Differences between Moore and RDM Interval Arithmetic

چکیده

The uncertainty theory solves problems with uncertain data. Often to perform arithmetic operations on uncertain data, the calculations on intervals are necessary. Interval arithmetic uses traditional mathematics in the calculations on intervals. There are many methods that solve the problems of uncertain data presented in the form of intervals, each of them can give in some cases different results. The most known arithmetic, often used by scientists in calculations is Moore interval arithmetic. The article presents a comparison of Moore interval arithmetic and multidimensional RDM interval arithmetic. Also, in both Moore and RDM arithmetic the basic operations and their properties are described. Solved examples show that the results obtained using the RDM arithmetic are multidimensional while Moore arithmetic gives onedimensional solution.

Arithmetic Aggregation Operators for Interval-valued Intuitionistic Linguistic Variables and Application to Multi-attribute Group Decision Making

The intuitionistic linguistic set (ILS) is an extension of linguisitc variable. To overcome the drawback of using single real number to represent membership degree and non-membership degree for ILS, the concept of interval-valued intuitionistic linguistic set (IVILS) is introduced through representing the membership degree and non-membership degree with intervals for ILS in this paper. The oper...

Some Advantages of the RDM-arithmetic of Intervally-Precisiated Values

Moore’s interval arithmetic always provides the same results of arithmetic operations, e.g. [1,3]+ [5,9] = [6,12]. But in real life problems, the operation result can be different, e.g. equal to [4,7]. Therefore, real problems require more advanced arithmetic. The paper presents (on example of the division) an arithmetic of intervally-precisiated values (IPV-arithmetic) and its main advantages....

On Interval Valued Generalized Difference Classes Defined by Orlicz Function

The work of interval arithmetic was originally introduced by Dwyer [3] in 1951. The development of interval arithmetic as a formal system and evidence of its value as a computational device was provided by Moore [15] and Moore and Yang [16]. Furthermore, Moore and others [3]; [4]; [10] and [17] have developed applications to differential equations. Chiao in [2] introduced sequence of interval n...
